Unabashedly wishing I was fluent in French

I read a post earlier today that made me think of my quest to learn French. I’ve been taking classes for two and half years and can now make it confidently through a Disney movie with no subtitles (that I’ve seen before). This is progress.

As I read this post by a fellow blogger who loves Germany and loves to cook with German recipes I was struck by how language and culture can tap into something deep in our heart of hearts.

Our hearts know no bounds of borders, time zones and geography. Our hearts want what they want and the more we feed our heart’s desires, the happier we are.

It’s back to French class this Saturday morning for my friendly dose of “I know nothing,” but the persistence has its rewards. Enjoying the process and being back in the classroom  is its own reward for this girl who thrives on learning.
