Years ago, we adopted an orphaned baby elephant and sponsored its food and care for the year through the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. I thought it was an unbelievable opportunity to learn about these gentle creatures and have often thought that given the chance I would love to spend time working with the elephants first hand in Kenya, in the Elephant Nursery in the Nairobi National Park.
We heard how ivory poachers have devastated their families and as a result many babies are orphaned and some are found at the bottom of wells.
I felt inspired to help in a small way. One day, in my dream of dreams, I would love to return to Kenya (where my family went on safari in 1980 while we lived in Nigeria) and play a small part in helping these creatures thrive again in their natural habitat.
