How creating a cover makes me feel

may 1, 2014 014bThis is me at my Granny’s desk, with my laptop. I thought you might like to see where I write and work and this is it!

I have to say that for all the hats I wear as a writer and publisher my favorite job is collaborating to create a cover.

As a writer you work for years on a story and then you get to take people inside your mind to see what’s been hiding out in the dark there.

By far the biggest question I have to ask myself is would Mabel like the cover? But how would I know that, I mean she’s a character in my head?

The way I know we’ve done her justice is a feeling I get in the pit of my stomach that’s almost euphoric.

Anytime something great happens in my life I get that feeling. It’s like my body’s way of saying to my mind, “Wake up, Jane! Or you’re going to miss this great moment in your life.”
