Mabel Hartley is going into 32,000 households for Easter weekend

Oh, it was such a great morning meeting with Rachel Stern, Arts Editor of the Nanaimo News Bulletin over fresh macarons, no less. I felt like I had a lot to celebrate with my series, 10 years in the making, and I was so happy to tell my story, to the lovely Rachel and read […]

Another great week of writing

Five chapters written on the first draft of book four in the Mabel Hartley series. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t written them myself. The last two weeks and 90 pages of brand new Mabel Hartley in New York City have been a gift. With new characters, and a new treasure, all the […]

Top secret! I wrote the first chapter of book 4: Mabel Hartley The Gangster’s Cache today

Proud owner of the very first Mabel Hartley t-shirt and mug

They came today about a week early and when I cut the tape on the box, there she was, Mabel Hartley, on a new t-shirt, mug and cap. I’m wearing my new t-shirt right now and am so happy to take orders! This is amazing. I can’t believe I’m wearing my muse. The books are […]

Lesson for today: learning about merchandising Mabel in hats/t-shirts/bags

Oh, la la! I can’t wait until February when my first kit filled with Mabel stuff arrives. Just spent a few hours tonight figuring out merchandising. Maybe I will go back and get a degree in business after all. Or not! I’ll post pics when they come in the full line when it all comes 🙂

Finding my purpose takes me right back to my roots as a young reader

It was the most fabulous experience! Today, I started my day thumbing through an old atlas and decided to take it with me as part of my adventure into reading to a grade 4/5 elementary school class. I asked for a volunteer, actually, I asked for two, to help me locate the countries where my […]

I really am so old fashioned

First, I told my husband that I was going to have a screen free day. No phones, no computers, nothing but me and my books and a walk with him. Then he caught me at it. “What happened to the screen free day?” He asked, smiling. “I got blogging and now I can’t stop!” So […]
