As an island we feel so lucky that a Syrian family has come to live on Gabriola. My daughter just moved the furniture in her room around and I have a huge stack of books. My first thought was why not try to see if the Syrian family would like them.

Last week, my son came home from soccer practice and said that some of the Syrian children came and played soccer with their team. He said the children we very good shooters and I was so happy with this thought. I love the idea of my children meeting children from around the world.

I love that we have a family on our island that has found peace and quiet and a warm home to live in. This is good and we will all be lucky to know them.
