Watching soap operas in the ancient valley of Petra

One of my favorite parts of being a writer is learning about new things, new ways of life, new ways of looking at the world. I love learning about how people live and doing the research for my 3rd story is no exception…in fact it’s even better because I know virtually nothing about how nomadic tribes in the desert live, particularly in the Middle East.

I’ve been researching the nomadic tribe of the B’doul and how even though they cook their bread in the ashes of the fire, they have generators to power their television sets. My story will be set in the early 1980s so I’m not sure how much of what I’m reading will apply to my storyline, but nothing feels as good as gathering all the breadcrumbs that will make my story come to life.
