This was a quick one – all 300 pages of reading about the New World and how settlers have come from earth to make a new life, only to find that the minds of men or “their Noise”, all their thoughts can be read by everyone all the time. You can never escape the Noise. This book is such a powerful, concept driven book, that reminds me of the Chrysalids, which I read in high school. Part science fiction, part futuristic, and all about the worst and best of man. The Guardian Book Award winner for 2008.
