What a pleasure it has been to meet fellow author and self-publisher Joyce Helweg who is visiting Gabriola Island from her home in Fort St. James, British Columbia. Joy has been working on a new manuscript, getting out that critical first draft and I had the great fortune to run into her by complete chance.

I am reading her book, “A Change in Direction,” which can be ordered from her website. A work of non-fiction, Joyce chronicles her adventures in the back country, travelling by saddles and packhorse across the last frontier into the vast North Central interior of British Columbia.
