The progress of a story – The Crusader’s Hoard

I wanted to bring you, my dear reader, up to date on where what this writer has been up to in terms of creating my third story.

I spent much of the Fall finishing my research for this epic tale, and just when it seemed like I’d never get to the end of it, I landed at the Cloisters museum in NYC where I saw the most unique collection of medieval treasures in the North America. How’s that for timing?

When we got home, I knew it was time to move on to my chapter-by-chapter outline of events that will serve as a road map for where I’m going with Mabel and how I’m going to get there.

A few weeks ago I started what I like to call “character catchups”. Every character in the story will write me a letter letting me know what’s been important in their lives since the last book, and the VIP details that must be written into this book.

This gives me a real sense of creating a story that will be real, human, historical, funny, a little frightening and most of all rich in detail, dialogue and mystery. Can’t wait to get these catchups done so I get start writing in the Spring!
