Remembrance day ceremony moves me to tears

In Canada, we celebrate the end of World War II with ceremonies across the country on November 11, at the 11th hour of the day.

This year was a huge turnout at our Memorial Cairn on Gabriola. I spoke with some of the survivors and veterans of the War this week and was moved to tears by the ceremony, especially when the planes flew overhead. I wondered what it must have been like for planes to fly overhead dropping bombs.

I thought of the soldiers who gave their lives and gave thanks to them. Our country may never know another war like that one, and for that we should be so thankful.
